Vergina — Aegai

The ancient capital of Macedon and burial site of Philip II — father of Alexander the Great. The Royal Tombs are among the most extraordinary archaeological finds in Greece, hidden beneath a burial mound and preserved exactly as discovered in 1977.

Monasteries perched on towering sandstone pillars, suspended between earth and sky. One of Greece’s most otherworldly landscapes. Six monasteries remain active; all six are open to visitors. Best experienced early morning or at golden hour.
